Braking is one of the important operations in electric drives. Due to their friendly speed torque characteristics, DC motors are still in domination for industrial applications. In this paper an attempt has been made to develop a systematic algorithm for determining braking time of DC motor during Dynamic braking. With this algorithm braking time of the motor can be estimated so that more accurate simulation of the DC motor may be obtained.
